HPMA Nomination Time: Vote by Tomorrow, or It’s Your Fault, Dammit

Yeah, yeah — I realized I’m way, way behind on this one; that’s just how the past month or so’s been, unfortunately. But hey, in case you, like me, are swamped and distracted and whatever else, consider this your wakeup call/reminder: the deadline to throw your ballot in the box for nominations for this year’s Houston Press Music Awards is 5PM tomorrow, Friday, October 14th.

So, get off your ass and on your, um, keyboard, and head on over to http://polls.houstonpress.com/polls/hou/musicawards2011/ to give your favorite H-town bands, musicians, scenesters, and God-knows-what-else the big thumbs-up so they can live to fight in the arena for another year. You’ve got the power, yo — if you don’t nominate your pals/heroes/etc., well, they may not make it on the ballot or play at the showcase. It’ll be on your head. (How’s that for guilt?)

Oh, and speaking of the showcase, the date’s apparently been set for the 2011 Music Awards Showcase, too — it’ll be on Saturday, November 12th, with a slew of bands for only a measly $10. The venues all look to be over on the east side of Downtown — Warehouse Live, House of Blues, Lucky’s, & Ben’s Beans are the ones they’ve got listed so far. More info to come, I’m sure…

Now, just in case you’re totally stumped and don’t know who the hell to nominate, well, we’ve got a few suggestions, ’cause we’re helpful like that. Here’re a few ideas from yours truly and fellow SCR contributor Jason Smith; your mileage may vary, and if we leave anybody out, well, um, sorry? There’re a lot of deserving folks to pick from, so many that I had a really damn hard time picking one in particular for most of these categories. So just take all of the below as ideas, ‘kay?
