On Your (Er, Their) Feet Again Down in Alvin

In a week that’s seen on-the-ground fighting in Palestine, cops shooting young guys for no reason whatsoever in both Oakland and Bellaire, an Austin activist outing himself as an FBI informant, bizarro Senatoria/Gubernatorial circus mayhem in Illinois & DC, and the company I work for laying off a slew of people and cutting back everybody else’s salary, I need all the good news I can get, y’all.

With that in mind, it brightened my week somewhat to learn that the kids behind the On Your Feet Foundation show-booking crew down in Alvin have finally recovered from the devastation laid upon ’em by Ike and are — hooray! — starting up shows again. Some are up in the H-town neck of the woods, but as somebody who grew up in a town kinda-sorta like Alvin, it’s the shows actually down in Alvin that are really the cool part of the deal. Kids in the ‘burbs deserve to have The Rock, too, darnit.

And thankfully, they’ve got some coming up at the Alvin Bowling Center at 300 Motel Dr. (in Alvin; duh). Here’s their schedule of Alvin & non-Alvin shows so far:

Wed., January 21 – Giant Battle Monster/The Delta Block/The Nightmare Affair/Campfire Stories @ The White Swan (8PM)
Sun., February 8 – Sunken Teeth/Dark Castle/We Both Know/Campfire Stories @ TBA
Tues., February 10 – After Time Has Passed (CD release)/Campfire Stories @ Alvin Bowling Center (Alvin; 7PM)
Tues., February 17 – Linda Ln/Then Something Happened @ Alvin Bowling Center (Alvin; 7PM)

Good going, you guys — glad to hear Ike couldn’t keep you down! Damn hurricanes…
