Here at
Space City Rock, we get a lot of CDs. That's "a lot of CDs" as in "a whole freaking ton of CDs," or possibly "a pile of CDs so big it practically covers my desk." And that's often a good thing, because we music writer types get to hear some truly cool, ground-breaking music before most non-music writer people do, and we hopefully pass on word of that really cool music to people who might never hear of it otherwise. At its heart, that's really what this whole writing-about-music thing is about. There's a dark side to it, though, and that's that, hey, we're only human...

In downtown Houston, I've lately spotted a number of music fans sporting t-shirts celebrating the local band
Sharks and Sailors. Intrigued, I was able to catch their live show one night at
The Proletariat (on Richmond near Montrose). The show I attended was just one day in their media-publicized, four-day mini tour, where four different bands from four different cities in our fair state (Houston, Ft. Worth, Denton and Austin) all joined together to play in one another's home towns. Sharks and Sailors is doing much more, though...
