It’s kind of an odd Friday, at least for me — we’re moving offices at The Day Job, so I’m at home today while stuff gets transported and rewired and all that. So it feels weirdly like Saturday, especially with the kids not yet back in school. But even still, there’ll be a great big pile of cool shows happening tonight, August 22nd, all over our fair city. These days, it seems, Keeton Coffman’s a changed man. When I first ran across Coffman, he was the frontman for The 71’s, a well-respected alt-/indie-rock outfit, and I was a bit bemused, I’ll admit — live, he was so wild and bombastic and over-the-top that it seemed almost put on, like a persona he was wearing, That Crazy Rock Guy, complete with overblown stage antics. Apologies for the quiet these past several days, folks — your humble Editor Guy Jeremy has been off on vacation in Southern California with the fam, seeing more LEGO sculptures than he ever imagined could exist in one place, and frequent writer/photo guy Jason has been computer-less of late due to some very bad technical difficulties.
