Short Notice: Something Fierce @ Cactus, Right About Now [1/17/2009 02:50:00 PM]:
Yeah, I know I'm running behind -- sorry about that, but it's pretty much my life... If on the odd chance you're a foolish blockhead who doesn't immediately run out & buy every freakin' disc we here at SCR tell you is So Good It Will Rule Your Life, then you may well not yet have your very own copy of There Are No Answers (review up here), the new full-length by Houston pop-punk (and I mean as in The Jam/The Adverts/Stiff Little Fingers "pop-punk," not Pennywise/NOFX/Lagwagon/etc. "pop-punk") band Something Fierce. If that's the case, well, you suck. Sorry, but it's true; you're honestly missing out on one of the top, say, five bands in town right now. Hell, I'd go so far as to call them one of the best in Texas right now (bite me, Austin!). And you're letting 'em pass you by; damn shame.

Never fear, though, because before they blaze out of town in a cloud of broken beer bottles and jacket-patches, the SF kids are playing one last show this very afternoon (Sat., January 17th, for the chronologically-impaired) up at Cactus Music's new-ish location on Portsmouth. The shindig's being billed as the kickoff for the band's Get Rad tour of the West Coast & parts in-between, and promises to feature a live performance by the band (duh) and free St. Arnold's beer. And yes, it's free to get in & partake in the whole thing. How do you beat that?

The catch? Okay, well, it starts in literally 15 minutes from now, as I type this, at 3PM. So grab your shit, get in the car/on the bike (w/helmet, of course), and get on over to Cactus right damn now. Then you can see/hear the band and realize what you've been missing from your life, get you a copy of There Are No Answers, and join the ranks of the wise and enlightened. Go now.
