Get Out Tonight [7/24/2006 04:25:00 PM]:
Yeah, I know it's a little bit late-notice, and we don't generally like to shill for specific shows & all that, but what the hey... If you're in the H-town area tonight,
Monday, July 24th, swing by
The Proletariat for the first-ever (that I know of, anyway)
Houston Calling Happy Hour, put on by
Space City Rock contributor and all-'round good guy David. Four good-good-good local bands/people will be playing -- The Dimes, Sitka Sound, Miranda Sound, & Tody Castillo -- and the whole shebang runs from 6PM or so to 10PM, so it's perfect for old-timers like me who get cranky when they're sitting in dingy bars 'til 1 in the AM. A Damn Good Idea [7/11/2006 08:59:00 PM]:
Once, long ago, your humble Editor had a vision of a tangled "family tree" of Houston bands, documenting the various links between folks like Middlefinger, Blueprint, and the Zydeco Dots. We put together a low-tech print version, but our schemes for an online, HTMLized version never materialized.

Houston Press's
John Lomax has picked up the torch -- he's beginning a brand-new
Houston band map, and he needs the help of all you H-town band folk out there, past and present. If you've got some information about your band's ever-shifting cadre of members,
drop him a line...
