On Saturday, February 12, ComedySportz Indianapolis celebrated its 7th anniversary and gave its player awards. A near-capacity crowd celebrated with us and were treated to a full match with teams of 7 actletes (one for each year in Indy) and 2 refs (one for... um... each team). Here's the recap!

Rookie of the Year
Nominees: Jon Colby, Doug Downey, Darin Garrett
Winner: Jon Colby, Doug Downey (tie)
"And so the man says, 'That's not a pig, that's my wife!'" Doug accepts gracefully as Jon nods appreciatively.
Ed and Lynn try desperately to prevent Jon from proving that he can fit his entire fist in his mouth. The evening ends in disaster.

Best Sound Effects
Nominees: Dave Beyer, Jamie McNulty, Jeff Ridenour
Winner: Dave Beyer
Lacking a photo of the absent Dave Beyer, the webmaster resorts to the lame use of stock images.

Best Odd Scrod Performer
Nominees: Tracy Parrish, Jeff Ridenour, Ed Trout
Winner: Jeff Ridenour
Marc, Jeff and Woody are momentarily distracted by the shiny lights. It passes.

Chris ruins an otherwise perfect evening when he takes out his glass eye.

Best Performer in a Sketch Comedy Show
Nominees: Joel Bruns, Jeff Ridenour, Jon Ridenour
Winner: Joel Bruns, Jeff Ridenour (tie)
See "Best Sound Effects" and replace "Dave Beyer" with "Joel Bruns." Thank you.
Jeff, in a rare moment of confusion, gives his acceptance speech into the trophy and tries to take the microphone home to put on his mantel.

Best Mental Attitude (Special Award)
Winner: Tim Harrison
Angry at somebody else taking Best Mental Attitude, Mia ironically shows why she lost by viciously mauling the winner.
"Thank you, that was 'My Heart Will Go On.' Now let's hear it for the Moskovitzes and 30 wonderful years of marriage!"

Best Referee
Nominees: Marc Hirsh, Mia Lee Roberts, Ed Trout
Winner: Ed Trout
Now that Marc has lost, he sees no need to even stay awake during the rest of the awards or the subsequent match.

Most Valuable Player
Nominees: Jeff Ridenour, Jon Ridenour, Ed Trout
Winner: Ed Trout
This is the back of Ed's head, ladies and gentlemen.
