I been living here for a few years and the chant scene in Houston is almost non-existent. I think that it's time that Houston had its own rockin chant band. This is going to be a non-religious spirit filled group, so leave your dogma at the door. All are welcome: Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Atheist, and the confused. We're currently a 3-piece (vocals, guitar, drums) looking for a good bassist who "gets" what we do. That means if you're looking to play straight-up metal, then you might as well move along. We want someone whose playing style is a good balance of riffing and pocket playing, with big, gnarly overdriven tone. If you're familiar with Brian Cook (Botch, These Arms Are Snakes) or Caleb Scofield (Cave In, Old Man Gloom, Zozobra), then you have a good idea of what I mean. You MUST have your own decent gear (that means no Crate practice amps) and transportation. We're working on getting a permanent practice space, but if you have one then that's even better. Ideally we'd like to practice as much as 4 times a week, minimum of 2. We have a show lined up for November 9th with Young Widows, so the sooner we find somebody the better.

Clear Lake area guitarist looking to start something new. I'm interested in meeting others who's passion is music, first and foremost, and that are looking to start a band or complete one.
Here's some background info on myself: I'm 25 years old. I've been playing guitar off and on for around 7 years. Some of my favorite bands include: Alter Bridge, Incubus, Staind, Creed, Green Day, Bush (first few albums), Trivium, and Pearl Jam just to name a few. My favorite style to play (and write songs) is heavy rock, with some metal thrown in and even some slow songs occasionally. I love heavy distorted chords and heavy rock riffs.
What I'm looking for: First and foremost, no drama, no egos, and no drugs. People in or around the Clear Lake area. People that are easy to get along with, and that understand becoming great is not an overnight acheivement. People interested in the same style of music that want to create original songs. People who don't have delusions of granduer about their band being a nationwide name, but rather focus on developing from within and seeing what happens.
My equipment: I play an Epiphone SG through a B-52 all tube head with a Behringer 4x12 slanted cab. Have a few pedals, but rely mostly on my amp head for my sound. Also have several practice amps for use in more "noise-free" areas.

Yo, I'm 22 vocalist/songwriter mostly sang heavy to melodic death metal, lots of screaming but looking to get more melodic yet stay somewhat heavy. Think Tool, APC, Katatonia (check them out if you haven't heard of them, they are killer), Flaw, 10 years, Disturbed, etc. I don't at this moment, or from the looks of it any time soon own a PA but I do own some vocal chords and a decent mic to practice with. In search of professional musicians
I am currently auditioning studio musicians for major label work. I am a record producer-Songwriter currently located in Houston, Texas originally from New York. I have major label credits and currently am working on lots of Pop- Top 40 stuff. Here's a brief explanation of what being a studio musician entails. I basically write the songs -play the songs. I play guitar and piano and percussion. I then produce sequenced tracks for the song if needed. Then I have my studio musicians come in, and we discuss such things as distortion, cadence, pitch, embellishment, melody, etc. Once we have completed this we then record at the studio, my studio or commercial studio. You will then receive credit and I will invoice your work so that you will be paid substantially if the song is placed. I currently only work on major label work. And have solid industry connects who are always looking for hot material from me. In this industry you have to be hard working, committed, on time and laid back. In this industry you MUST understand at best the basics of music theory. Music theory is important because as musicians we must have a way of communicating our ideas. This is the standard way of communicating in music. Also, the job as a studio musician working with me is to understand all popular facets of music and not have preconceived notions about songs. For instance, please do not respond to this ad if you hate Pop or Pop Rock. If you are a Metal head but also enjoys Pop rock and understands what makes a Pop song a hit record then please respond. Negativity is our worst enemy in this industry and it will hold you back. If you are a bitter musician who feels washed up, please do not respond. Vibe and energy is very important in the songwriting process. Also, think about how other cities in America are able to have great songs out. This is because they have relationships with other musicians who are reaching for success and goals.
As a producer, I will work with you on scheduling and if you have some great songs I will have them recorded for you and as a producer if you write something with me you will receive credit for it. I am not one of those producers who are afraid of letting you be the sole writer and me just the producer and I will still shop your record because that's how we can win. He will recieve 1/6 of gig earnings, the same as all other members of the band. He need not have to bring any equipment as we already have everything needed for a killer FOH sound. LTS is looking to start accepting gigs the 1st of Feb. Ideally we would like to play 2-6 gigs per month. Ideally we would like to find somebody that is currently enrolled in some type of Audio Engineering classes, that is looking to get some hands on experience. ***GUITARIST LOOKING FOR MODERN METAL/ROCK BAND***
I have just moved back to Houston from Nashville, and have a handfull of songs that I had written for a group of friends that worked through the writing process, but then couldn't commit to any solid practice schedule. I would like to continue with a few of these songs/write new ones to fit the personality of the group. These are on the heavy side (think Tool and Evanescence), but a very strong singer is needed to help keep them musical. They were originally written for a girl, but could be changed to a different key/feel to fit. I play guitar and sing but would like to focus on one or the other. I have about 12 years under my belt, and have a very extensive recording background. I moved to the Northwest Houston area, but i am willing to travel to play with dedicated individuals. I hate listing influences, because every incarnation of a group can change a song greatly. I am looking for someone to front (as previously mentioned possibly a girl), a bass player who can jump back and forth from a five string to a four string in drop D, and a drummer who is very comfortable with double kick, changing feel & time signatures, and is comfortable in compound meters, and maybe after a little more writting is done, a keyboard player to help fill out the sound. We are Beekin, a Christian Rock band out of Houston, Tx thats been around for 3 1/2 years playing shows. We just had some members leave due to different callings and are currently seeking a new bassist and lead guitarist. We are in the middle of recording our first full-length cd. The band is basically starting over due to these changes but will continue with the same songs we have been writing over the past year. We are very ministry focused and want this to be a career so we are working towards fulltime commiment with eventually being on the road for long amounts of time touring. This is not meant to be a local band or a side thing in your life. It might be local for a while but eventually when we are ready and the time is right, we have things lined up so that we can hit the road. You must be available to practice around 3 times a week and play shows whenever they are presented. We wont be playing shows for a while so that we can make sure to get the new band tight, solid, comfortable, and united. You must know that this is where you are called to be.
We are meeting and praying and hashing out the details of the band to make sure we are on the same page and we can find people to be on the same page. I can tell you that our purpose is to be a light, weherever that may be (a club or a church or wheverever) and whether it be a bright light or a dim one. We are a tool that other ministries can use to reach out and minister. We do anything from just smiling at someone to full fledge presenting the gospel and leading someone to Christ. We go where we feel led and do as we feel led. Let me know what else you need to know in order to decide to pursue being a candidate. Just know we need some committed, professional, God-fearing musicians to go on this journey with us.
