Missed The Suffers on Letterman? Then Here You Go…

So, if you live in a small hole in the ground and only communicate with squirrels or something (or alternatively, if you just plain hate music and joy), you may not have heard that H-town’s own awesome soul-rocksteady crew {The Suffers} just happened to make their big-time network TV debut this past Monday, on The Late Show With David Letterman.

Yes, that really, actually happened (and yes, I do know what day it is today). And it was freaking awesome. Kam and the band tore it up, and it seemed like they won David Letterman over pretty conclusively; after they finished, he hugged and kissed Kam and declared, “If you can’t do this, get out of the business!”

They only had time for one song, unfortunately, but they played “Gwan” like their lives depended on it, and I can’t help but think they made people all over the country sit up and say, “wait…there’s music from Houston other than ZZ Top and Destiny’s Child?” (Plus, seeing Kam’s “This is my Houston” ads beforehand was a nice touch.)

Now, if you missed seeing the performance, well, I feel pity for you. It was a great, great moment. But hey, this is the Age of the Interwebs, and everything’s online pretty much immediately, so you’re not completely screwed. Enjoy:

Kudos to The Suffers (and to manager/pal Mark Austin, too); y’all have been working your collective asses off, and you really and truly deserved this chance to shine in the spotlight. And shine you did.
