Late Notice: Fitz Navidad & B.E. Godfrey, Tonight
The first one’s the Fitz Navidad festival over at Fitzgerald’s, which boasts an awesome lineup of bands I freaking love, including multi-instrumental crooner Benjamin Wesley, bearded alternarock heroes the last place you look, smart/bouncy prog-pop band Glass the Sky, awesome psych-popsters Featherface, The Sideshow Tramps‘ frontman Craig Kinsey, indie-folk outfit Poor Pilate, & nighttime electro-pop trio Bang Bangz, among others.
I’m not positive, but I think the idea is that the folks involved will be playing holiday classics; no guarantee on that. Either way, $5 or 4 canned goods gets you in the door and in front of a crapload of great bands.
Oh the more low-key side, over at Mango’s there’s a cool-sounding lineup, as well, with Nick Greer, formerly(?) of Mantis and currently a funky, piano-playing soulster, promising-sounding Pasadena-based newcomers Beach Bones, singer/songwriter Kevin Taylor Kendrick, and — best of all to me, at least — listenlisten frontman B.E. Godfrey, whose solo stuff is damn near as good as the “band” stuff he does, albeit not quite as dark or murky. Again, $5 gets you in the door…
