!Yes Indeed! Fest Tiger Beat Rundown: Empty Shells

And on we go… The big day is fast approaching — Saturday, September 29th is the date of the bound-to-be-cool !Yes Indeed! Music Fest, so we’re back again with third installment of this little SCR Tiger Beat writeup thing we’re doing.

This time around, we’re chatting a bit with Jonathan Espeche, frontman of local boys {Empty Shells}. The guitarist and vocalist of the drifting, hazy, quasi-dreampop trio threw us some fairly bleak, glass-half-empty answers; read on to see ’em.

Sadly, though, I can’t find any pictures for the band. Sorry, y’all…


 

SCR: How would your mother describe you in one word?
Jonathan Espeche: “Sensible” on a good day, “moody” on a bad one.

What is your favorite flower?
The ones on a casket.

What is the most insane question you’ve ever been asked?
“Hey man, can I borrow 10 dollars…”

What word in the English language do you wish you had invented?
Greed. So I could teach the world who its real god is.

Where would you like to live?
I want to live on an abstract plain.

What is the first quote that comes to your mind?
“It’s possible to love a human being if you don’t know them too well.” — Bukowski

What animal best describes the kind of woman/man you’re interested in?
A dog because their needs are simple, they’re loyal, and their love is unconditional. try finding a person like that.

What do you miss about your childhood?
Believing that you were going to live forever and that all people were good.

If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
Kind of a dishonorable thing to do, and I like my name anyways.

What is the main fault of your character?
Mercifulness.

Who is your favorite historical figure?
Napoleon Bonaparte.

Describe how you kiss in one word.
Regretfully.

If you met the right woman/man today, would you propose tomorrow?
I could think of nothing worse!

What in the world do you least desire?
Having to do anything on someone else’s terms.

Why do you think most men date you?
Because they hope I will expire.
