Tonight: Canned Acoustica II + Linkin Park + The Walkmen + Jucifer + Fair To Midland Rescheduled + More

Argh. Don’t have a lot of time right now, unfortunately, but trust me when I say that the weekend started early tonight (Thurs., March 3rd, that is); there’s so much good stuff going on I really don’t know where to start…

First and foremost for yours truly, at least, is the Canned Acoustica II show going on tonight up at Warehouse Live — it’s a repeat of last year’s benefit show, where kind-hearted local rockers (and such) get together to use their musical talentedness to get food donations for the Houston Food Bank.

So it’s an awesomely good cause, and there are a ton of cool people lending their skills to help out, including ever-awesome psych-soul-rockers {The Tontons} and Roky Moon doing a solo set (or so I’m told), plus {Come See My Dead Person}, {Young Girls}, {Southern Backtones}, {Finnegan}, and others. Bring at least 2 cans of food to get in the door…

Beyond that, there’s the happily-rescheduled show with Linkin Park at Toyota Center, which we talked about here, here, and here, and the always great Alejandro Escovedo will be ripping it up at the House of Blues tonight.

Over at Fitzgerald’s, NYC boys The Walkmen will be playing, alongside The Head & The Heart — I haven’t heard much lately from the Walkmen, I’ll admit, but I liked Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone quite a bit, and the smidge I’ve heard from THATH has been pretty nice, in a delicately folky kind of way. You can check out the band here:

And hey, freaking Jucifer is playing over at Super Happy Fun Land tonight, a fact that still somewhat stuns me — the show very nearly snuck in under my radar, honestly.

Now, for the bad news: tonight’s other show at Warehouse Live tonight, with Fair To Midland and local heroes {Scale The Summit} and {the last place you look}, has been postponed. Guitarist Cliff Campbell had to have surgery this past weekend and apparently just got out of the hospital, so the show tonight’s been moved to April 18th, with all previously purchased tickets honored. Sorry, y’all…

Here’s the full list of what looks cool tonight:
