Funeral Party, Bootleg EP

Funeral Party, Bootleg EP

On the Bootleg EP, Funeral Party is a curious mix of warble and gossip from the likes of NME; its fans consist of a wide range of kids who listen to their music because it’s the latest, because it’s “new and original.” But if you listen closely, the record itself lacks power — it almost seems to be very thrown together at the last minute…right before the producer hits the “Record” button on his Mac.

The lyricist is incomprehensible most of the time, shouting and shouting to point of annoyance, the riffs become repetitive, and the EP’s fusion of electronic effects seem dated. The sound itself is very confused and, dare i say it, tacky and misguided.
