Barefoot for Native, Barefoot for Native EP

Barefoot for Native, Self-titled EP

I first saw Yvette Barwood and Devora F, the two ladies of Barefoot for Native, at SXSW, and then was fortunate to see them again as they came through Houston and did a show at Dean’s.  These two women play their guitars with such beauty and intensity while being completely in synchronicity and harmony with each other.  It’s a performance that caused people to line up and express their gratitude after they finished their two-set gig at Dean’s.  From the UK, the pair have been touring the country performing what I’d describe as singer-songwriter folk soul, with bandmates John Sandall on fiddle and James Russell on drums.

Their self-titled EP, Barefoot for Native, captures the essence of what they are about: beautifully-written and -crafted songs sung with passion and a heartfelt connection.  My favorite song by far is “August,” a stinging melody about unrequited love, or about being in love with someone who is not quite capable yet of not breaking your heart.  Been there, done that, I can completely relate.  All of their songs are poignant. If you’re a fan of Jessica Lee Mayfield, Tori Amos, and Joni Mitchell, keep Barefoot for Native on your radar.

I was lucky to listen to these two girls here in Houston and in London, and their voices are amazing, I love several of their songs, they are the most talented girls with their guitars and their voices are beautiful. I am looking forward to listen to their new CD.
and I Hope they will perform in Houston again, I will not miss it for anything.
