Free Music at Cactus, Today (+ KTRU Outdoor Show Postponed a Wee Bit)

Well, it seems the rain we’ve been seeing here at SCR HQ has also hit the Rice University campus, meaning that the organizers of the KTRU Outdoor Show have had to postpone a teeny-tiny bit, shifting the start time back from noon to 1:30PM in order to dodge the precipitation. So shift your schedules accordingly, and take an umbrella if you head over there if you’re going, eh?

If something more indoors-y appeals to you, though, there’re a couple of cool shows going on at Cactus this afternoon…

Legendary local reggae D.R.U.M. is up first, playing at 1PM, and I have to say, these guys are one of the only bands I can remember seeing back when I was college who’re still around & who haven’t ever broken up (that I know of, anyway). They just keep chugging along, fine-tuning their mellow, friendly reggae vibe year after year.

Then, at 3PM, there’s an extra-cool show for folks (like me) who missed last night’s gig at Rudz; The Jonx will be playing what I hear should be their quietest show ever, so that should be something to see.

And as always, there’s free St. Arnold’s to be had, while it lasts…
