Raise Fists Skyward: Lost In Space Fest, Coming In December [11/26/2009 01:00:00 PM]:
Yep, another music festival -- seems like there've been quite a few of 'em this year, but this one is fairly unique, not to mention somewhat more specialized than most. The inaugural Lost In Space Fest will be happening Sat., December 5th (as in, the weekend after next), showcasing a slew of excellent psych/ experimental(-ish) folks from Houston & beyond, thankfully without focusing on the utterly out-there and ignoring space-/psych-rock people like yours truly.

The lineup's pretty great -- Austin spacerockers My Education and trippy folk-y gang Weird Weeds headline, alongside excellent H-towners like crush-rapper B L A C K I E (about whom I really can't say enough good shit), mindblowing atmospheric instrumentalists Golden Cities, psych-prog guys Motion Turns It On, laptop-destroying hypnotist Limb, & excellently quirky psych-hoppers Ghost Mountain (who make MC Chris look lame & unimaginative in comparison). The crew from Esotype Records/Golden Cities, who're organizing the thing, have really pulled together a bunch of good, good musicians.

Plus, there're other bands/people I'm less familiar with but have heard good things about: Ghost Town Electric, Defending The Kingdom, Chairs, Slow Motion Rider, Solanae, & Forests.

That's all for a mere $10, by the way; the show's set to start at 6PM. And hey, did I mention it's a rooftop show, up on the roof of Khon's Bar in Midtown (2808 Milam, to be precise), which I hear is a cool place to hang all by itself. Spacerock under the stars -- that sounds pretty fucking badass, at least to me.
