Last-Minute Show: Peter and the Wolf @ Mango's, Tonight [5/13/2009 04:28:00 PM]:
Holy crap...of all the damn nights. sigh. Got a standing "thing" Wednesday nights, so it kills me when stuff like this suddenly appears & leaves me out in the cold...

Just checked the email & saw a missive from Omar, he of Free Press Houston & now Mango's fame, trumpeting the fact that freaky/cool folk-popsters Peter and the Wolf will be a last-minute special headliner(?) for tonight's semi-regular Free Radicals gig at the newly-show-having venue/restaurant.

I've raved about Peter and the Wolf before in this space, so I won't go over-the-top this time (especially since I haven't heard the group's latest, Mellow Owl), but Red Hunter is an amazingly talented songwriter whose songs make my jaw drop once I've listened to 'em enough for the meaning to really sink in. Yeah, I know that sounds weird and sappy; deal with it, eh?

Further details: tonight's show will be free, which is very cool, and will include the aforementioned Peter and the Wolf & Free Rads in the later spots (Peter and the Wolf's Myspace says "10PM sharp," so take that for what it's worth) and fine, fine, high-voiced folkster Chase Hamblin and fellow H-town singer/songwriter Craig Kinsey as openers.
