Raging Asshole Steals the Tontons' Shit [12/09/2008 10:10:00 AM]:
Memo to the dirtbag who stole Tontons/Studemont Project guitarist Adam Martinez's gear from his car: you're a fucking waste of skin who needs to go jump off a building (or, alternatively, return it all right damn now). You've officially made the top of my own personal Worst Person in the World list.

Beyond the fact that you're effectively delaying the release of what promises to be one of the best damn albums of the coming year, you're also fucking with the livelihood of some very talented people who're trying to make their mark in a city where that's still insanely difficult to do. You suck and deserve a serious beatdown.

To anybody else: sorry, but this sort of thing really pisses me off (could you tell?). I was a musician in a former life, and I can't even imagine how I'd have reacted if somebody'd swiped my guitar & gear out of my car; my guitar just sort of languishes in a back closet, these days, but back then it would've pretty much crippled me. Adam lost roughly $700 of equipment, all in one shot, and it's not like local musicians are made of money or anything.

At any rate, if you frequent pawnshops, band practice spaces, used-gear stores & the like, keep an eye out for a sweet red Epiphone SG and a bunch of fancy-looking used guitar pedals. More details here and here, courtesy of Houston Calling and the Houston Press.

Fuck. Shit like this really shakes my inherent faith in humanity...
