The Rundown, Part 3: For All the Whiskeytown Fans... [11/16/2008 05:31:00 PM]:
Last night for The Rundown for a bit; I ended up stuck with the fam this weekend & missed out/am missing out on all the festivities, sadly, but that doesn't mean you have to, yourself.

Tonight (Sunday, November 16th), then, is your last chance of the weekend to not fall into the same trap as me. And really, while there's more stuff going on tonight, I know most of it ain't where you want to be, honest (ahem -- Madonna). Where you do want to be, though, is up at The Continental Club this evening, to catch the common sensically-named The Cover Band as they do the entirety of Whiskeytown's Stranger's Almanac track by track and cover to cover.

I should note that this really wouldn't pop up on my personal radar -- no offense to Ryan Adams & co., but I'm not myself a gigantic Whiskeytown fan or anything -- if "The Cover Band" weren't a labor of love by members of cool-ass local band Alkari, whom I like quite a bit, as well as members of Moses Guest and Half Mile Away. These guys really, truly love the music and just want to pay tribute to it, which is something I can't help but get behind, y'know?

They tried to do this show back when Ryan Adams & the Cardinals were in town last, btw, but the Fates conspired against them and, uh, some other band got the spot at the club that night. Dang. Even still, this'll be good, particularly for all you Whiskeytown/Ryan Adams fans out there. 8PM (or so), $10.
