(Late) Reminder Time: The Suspects, Tonight in Downtown [10/16/2008 06:19:00 PM]:
Yes, folks, I know this is really late -- today's been a rough day, believe me, and I'm only now able to sit down for a few seconds...

The reason I'm late-late-late, of course, is because formerly-defunct local ska legends The Suspects are playing tonight downtown at the much-ballyhooed Discovery Green park, celebrating their climb back out of the grave in Ye Olde Band Graveyard. Believe me when I say that I'm happy as hell to see the band back alive & kicking (even if keys man Joe Cote just got married out in Cali and won't be regrouping w/the other guys...dang). They were awesome the first time around, true heroes of the H-town ska scene, and judging by the sporadic reunion shows over the past few years, time apart hasn't slowed 'em down a bit.

Oh, and the show is starting right freakin' now, just about, at 6:30PM -- openers are cool non-defunct locals Skyblue72, who seem to win every award imaginable and play some damn entertaining back-to-basics rock. And the show's free, most likely unlike the Suspects next scheduled deal at The Continental Club (on Nov. 21st, if you've got your calendar handy).

You have your entertainment for the evening, right there; now get on the bike, hop the light rail, or (more realistically) jump in the gasoline-sucking car and get on over to downtown to check it out. I know it's been drizzling all day, but supposedly the show's still on. If you get moving now, you still have time to make it there...
